Safari Itinerary

DAY 1: Meet and Greet

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where we will be waiting to meet you once you have cleared customs and transfer to your accommodation, where you will enjoy a wonderful dinner and a superb night’s rest and relaxation. This is your chance to really soak up the atmosphere and recharge the batteries for what lies ahead for your Migration and calving Safari.

DAY 2: Briefing and Arusha National Park

You will have an early breakfast at 07.30 followed by a safari briefing and instructions from your Naturalist Guide before driving to Arusha National Park for a full day of game viewing. Arusha National Park is a gem of varied ecosystems and spectacular views of Mt. Meru, the crater that gives the region its name. The small national park includes the slopes, summit, and ash cone of Mt. Meru, the Momela Lakes, Ngurdoto Crater, and the lush highland forests that blanket its lower slopes. Game viewing around the Momela Lakes is at a laid-back and quiet pace with lots of Flamingos and other birds around, while passing through the forest you will stop to search for troupes of rare Black & White colobus monkeys playing in the canopy. Late in the afternoon, you will return to your lodge.

 DAY 3: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Highland

After breakfast at the lodge, drive south of Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park. You have the option to visit the culturally-diverse village of Mto wa Mbu set on the banks of the river of the same name, for a first-hand look at tribal life in the African bush. You then check into Lake Manyara National Park where a picnic lunch is served at the Msasa picnic site, offering a fabulous view of the lake. You will have an afternoon wildlife viewing in the park, with its diverse flora and fauna, including some 350 bird species. The park preserves a variety of animals like the gazelle, impala, buffalo, wildebeest, hyena, baboon, giraffe, hippo, and the famous tree-climbing lions. Late afternoon we head off to the Ngorongoro highlands.

 DAY 4: Exploring Ngorongoro Crater

We will have a very early start and we will Collect breakfast and lunch boxes, at around 05:45 and descend into the crater for an in-depth exploration of this distinctive eco-system. Enjoy abundant wildlife viewing set against the impressive backdrop of the Ngorongoro Crater, the heart of the conservation area. These drives provide one of the best opportunities in Africa to view black rhino, which tend to spend their time on the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles; its magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthrall visitors. Another big draw card to this picturesque Caldera, is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, and if Lucky enough you will have chance to see the small cats like the Rare Caracal, Seval cat as well as the African wild cat which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. Picnic breakfast will be served at one of the picnic sites at the crater floor, followed by another game viewing visiting the hippo pool near the Mandusi Swamp, Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner which is one of the main features of the crater, the lerai forest as well as other parts of the crater.

DAY 5 & 6 Exploring South Serengeti and Ndutu Forest

You will spend your next four nights exploring the southern Serengeti plains and the Ndutu forest, which is home to the enormous migratory herds of wildebeest and zebras during the wet season. The wildebeest migrations will mostly likely be spread across the green plains of Ngorongoro conservation area and the southern Serengeti from December to May and You can anticipate exploring lake masek, lake ndutu, the hidden valley, kusini valley and the kakesio plains during your game drives. In addition to the large migratory herds, predators will be abundant and easily seen. Cheetah densities will be at the highest as many have followed the migratory Thomson’s gazelles onto the southern and eastern plains. Lions should be easily visible, both resident prides and the nomads which have followed the wildebeest and zebras onto the plains.

 DAY 7 & 8: Exploring Eastern Serengeti Plain & Kopjes

Depart Lake Masek Tented Camp after early breakfast and enjoy the sunset game viewing at Ndutu forest before driving to the east plain of Serengeti and arrive at Woodland Camp intime for Lunch. You will have three days of game viewing at the Gol Kopjes, moru Kopjes as well as the Simba Kopjes area. Driving through the Gol kopjes is always a breathtaking experience with a vision of vast open plains and amazing wildlife. This is gazelle country and where there are gazelles there are always cheetahs and different wildlife interactions at the area, in addition to the large migratory herds. This area linking the Southern plain of Serengeti and Central Serengeti is a fragile habitat consisting of ethereal kopjes and short grass plains.

 DAY 9: Bush Flight to Arusha

Early breakfast at the camp and then leave the camp for Seronera Airstrip with game viewing enroute. Domestic Flight from Serengeti to Arusha. Stop at cultural heritage for lunch and an optional shopping, thereafter drive to Ngarasero Mountain lodge for a Day use room, followed by an early dinner before driving to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight back home.
